We’re proud to be the Official Betting Partner to the Elite Ice Hockey League and Title Sponsor of the PredictorBet PlayOffs.

Here’s the joint press statement from February 2018 in full:

“The Elite Ice Hockey League Playoffshave received a massive boost with a three-year sponsorship from new on-line sports gaming company, PredictorBet.

This year’s PredictorBet Playoffs will get underway over the Easter weekend at the beginning of April, when the top eight teams from the regular season compete for the four places at the PredictorBet Playoff Finals Weekend at the Motorpoint Arena, Nottingham on 7/ 8 April.

As well as taking over the title sponsorship of the Playoffs, PredictorBet will also become the official betting partner of the Elite Ice Hockey League. It is the first major sponsorship deal for the league in five years.

“This partnership will allow us to link up with an exciting, fresh thinking company in an increasingly popular area of sports fandom. It presents both the Elite League and PredictorBet with some great opportunities to increase their reach and work together on some exciting projects over the next three years,” said Elite League Chairman, Tony Smith.

“The PredictorBet Playoffs Final weekend is a brilliant opportunity for fans from across the league to come together and to mark the end of the hockey season in style. There is a real party atmosphere every year, and given how exciting the 2017/18 campaign has already been I have no doubt that the 2018 Playoffs Final Weekend will be bigger and better than ever.”

Smith’s side, the Sheffield Steelers, won the title last year by beating Cardiff Devils in the Playoff final and are well placed in the league standings to reach the PredictorBet Playoffs once again to try to defend their crown. The Devils are currently on top of the table and recently beat the Steelers to reach the Challenge Cup final.

There are 12 teams from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland currently competing in the Elite League, which is split into three Conferences. This season saw two new teams enter the Elite League, Milton Keynes Lightning and Guildford Flames

“Ice hockey is a very fast-paced, highly competitive, entertaining and sociable sport – and that’s exactly what PredictorBet is all about,” said PredictorBet Director, Lisa Entwistle-Evans.

“It is now the number-one attended indoor professional sport in the UK and the third largest winter spectator sport in the UK after football and rugby union. We knew from the start that ice hockey was the sport with which we wanted to partner.

“There is such a fantastic spirit at every game, and such great loyalty amongst the fan base, and we look forward to giving those fantastic fans some great opportunities to back their teams and win some great prizes.

“We can’t wait to get involved and the PredictorBet Playoffs Final weekend in Nottingham promises to be an incredible celebration of all that is good about this great sport.”

PredictorBet will be offering a new concept in sports betting, with some big guaranteed prize pots. There will also be a major cash prize of £50,000 for all ice hockey fans to aim at next season for accurate score predictions of all matches over any league weekend.

The company name combines the two fundamental concepts of the venture – the players “bet” on their own skill to accurately “predict” the outcome, making it a more educated, and indeed more social, proposition than luck based lotteries or traditional fixed odds.

Unlike traditional fixed-odds betting, on PredictorBet the whole prize pool is paid out every game. Those with the most accurate predictions take a share of the prize pool, with the Top Predictor taking half of the total pot.

There will be tantalising bonuses for spot-on predictions and any player that accurately guesses the results of all the games across any 2018/19 Premier League weekend will scoop a cool £1 million.

Jonathan Phillips, captain of reigning champions Sheffield Steelers
“I think last year’s Playoffs Final was probably the best game of hockey ever played in this Country. It was five periods of full on action.

“The atmosphere is always unbelievable in that building, with fans from 10 clubs all sat together cheering their teams on. This year with fans of Milton Keynes and Guildford it will be fans of 12 clubs making it even more manic.

“The Playoff Final weekend is a special weekend, I can’t think of another sport when an event like this happens. It’s unique.

“Every hockey player in the world wants to win the last game of the year, the play off final. We did that last year and have been lucky enough to do it on many other occasions. We will be giving it our all this year as well.”

Steve Lee, captain of Nottingham Panthers, and four-time Playoffs winner
“It’s always exciting to play in finals week. The atmosphere is unbelievable, it’s exciting and very, very loud. The top four teams in the league at that point, the fans are loud, it’s exciting to play in.

“It seems as soon as Christmas goes the last part of the year flies by. Winning that last game of the season is special, it’s excellent, it’s a great feeling.

“It’s good the league is growing in recognition and it is excellent to see a big sponsor like PredctorBet coming on board.”

Jake Morissette, captain of Cardiff Devils, Playoffs Final runners-up 2017
“It was a tough loss last year, but we are looking forward to trying to get back there this year, to make some noise and hopefully be more successful. It’s a lot of fun to play at Nottingham – it’s always exciting, it’s always a big crowd, so we look forward to playing there.

“Devils fans love going to finals, we have such good support and we are looking forward to seeing them there. We know they have a lot of fun there so, yeah, it is a fun weekend.

“Everyone is really excited about PredictorBet coming in, it’s really going to add a lot, everyone is really pumped up about that.”
